Karen Lee Andrews

Australian blues and soul powerhouse Karen Lee Andrews possesses an unwavering artistic purpose. With a lifelong immersion in music, Karen’s journey has predominantly revolved around classic soul and rhythm and blues sounds. However, as her musicality has evolved, she’s embraced blues with a hint of gritty rock and power ballads, all while retaining the influence of soul, gospel, and her Polynesian heritage.

In 2018, Karen’s EP, “Far From Paradise,” marked a significant shift in her career. It served as a declaration of independence after years of conforming to the expectations of a major label. Karen poured her heart into every song on this record, not only discovering her distinct songwriting voice but also solidifying her authentic artistic practice.

“The songs from ‘Far From Paradise’ are a true expression of who I am,” says Karen. “When I perform them, the impact remains as powerful as it was when I first recorded them.”

Karen’s latest release, “Edin,” meaning “place of pleasure,” continues to captivate audiences. These new originals delve even deeper into the possibilities of blues music, offering a candid glimpse into her personal identity.

“The new music is more exposed and vulnerable,” Karen shares. And her creative journey is far from over, with a third EP already recorded and slated for release in 2024.

Karen Lee Andrews’ songcraft is rooted in a profound understanding of blues, gospel, and soul music, driven by a desire to connect with her audience. Yet, what truly defines her is an unshakeable artistic passion.

Onstage, Karen is joined by her formidable 3-piece band, featuring Yanya Boston on drums (known for his work with Tina Arena, Becca Hatch, Thandi Phoenix, Joy) and Adam Ventoura on bass (renowned for his contributions to Midnight Oil, Guy Sebastian, Oyobi). While these musicians shine individually, their dynamic as a group is nothing short of exhilarating. Together, they deliver a classic blues-rock experience infused with the depth of soul.
